The Dentist and Diaper Rash

I had a dentist appointment this afternoon. I always get a little nervous about going to the dentist, but it always goes fine. I've been going to the same dentist since I was a kid. Today he came in after I got my cleaning done, looked at my teeth for a second and declared them perfect. He said "I don't know why I even bother to check, they always look great!"

Now, I know it's not that big of a deal...but hey...everyone loves a compliment! It made me smile (a big toothy smile, full of my perfect teeth!)

Another postitive - no one yelled at me for not flossing enough, even though I admitted that I don't do it very much. I know I should do that more...but I was happy they didn't say anything about it...

On a completely different note (or, maybe it really IS related to teeth?) - Mara has developed a diaper rash. I'm sure that doesn't seem like a big deal, but she's really never had one before. I'm trying to figure out why she has it. We haven't switched diapers or wipes or anything. I'm wondering if she is getting more teeth? I don't know if that can cause that, but she's had a few other 'teething' symptoms, so maybe it has something to do with that. I felt so bad when I saw the rash, my poor little babe. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it, so hopefully it will clear up quickly. The only other thing that's different is that she had bananas (baby food) for the first time on Sunday. She didn't have them yesterday though, and the rash just appeared today. I have no clue...

How funny. My dentist said the same thing about my teeth just after Natalie was born. This last time there was an iffy spot on the x-ray, so I'm becoming MUCH better at flossing, though...

As for the diaper rash. Try Beudreaux (sp?) Buttpaste. That stuff is AWESOME!

Lili has never really had a problem with diaper rash either. The few times she did though, it was either due to illness (she had diarrhea and lots of it, which irritated the skin)...or due to not having her diaper changed often enough. I'm not saying that that is the case with Mara, but you might want to ask the daycare lady to change her a little more often, just to make sure. Maybe just changing her a bit more frequently will prevent it from happening? Good luck and I hope her butt looks better today!

She changed her 5 times yesterday, and she was there for 7 hours! So, I don't think that's the problem. She DID have some loose stool yesterday though. So I'm thinking that might have been the cause, or at least had something to do with it. It looked a little better this morning, and tonight I plan to let her play on the floor without a diaper on, to air it out a bit (I'll put a towel under her or something).
I need to get some of that butt paste. It just SOUNDS funny!

I cannot get over how stinkin' cute Mara is!
My daughter, born April 7th, is dealing with her very first diaper rash too. I have no clue what the cause is either. Anyway, I haven't had any luck with Butt Paste, so I got some Burt's Bees, and that's doing the trick. The consistency is different, and it seriously stays on ALL day whereas it seemed to me like the Butt Paste was gone in just an hour or so.
Hope her hiney heals quickly! =)
