Busy July

July has been a busy month, and I have been a bad blogger! Most of the photos are up on facebook, so I won't post them here too, but here's a brief recap of a few things we've been up to this month!

We celebrated the 4th of July at my parents house with lots of extended family. Mara had a blast running around all day, and exhausting us!

We went to Toronto for a week in early July. It was a tiring trip, but nice to see Jay's family and friends, and we got to go to Alex and Lisa's wedding too! Mara did really well for being so out of her element. My parents came for part of the trip too, and were able to do a lot of sight-seeing and have a little vacation. Mara was definitely happy to get home though, she was excited to get into her crib, which was a relief! It's always nice to get back to a normal routine!

Earlier in the month we decided on a daycare for Mara to start at next month. I'm nervous to have her going back to daycare again since we are so used to having her at home during the day. It will be different to have to get her up in the morning with me every day again! I think she will fit in well at the daycare though, so we are optimistic that it will work out well!

My Dad had a grand re-opening for his new shop last weekend. I'll share some photos from that in a separate entry!

And yesterday started the 3 weekends in a row of baby showers for my sister Michelle! Baby girl is due in about 6 weeks - can't wait to meet her!!

We're Alive!

It's been a busy few weeks, including a week in Canada, so I haven't had time to update the blog. Lots of photos and stories to come, just as soon as I find a few minutes to spare. In the meantime, just thought I'd let everyone know that we're still alive!! :)

14 Months Old

Mara turned 14 months on June 29th. Every month I can't believe how much older she is! She is doing so many new things now, and seems so much more like a little person than a baby!

It was definitely hard to get a photo this month! She was squirmy and kept trying to crawl off of the chair. But, despite not getting a 'perfect' shot, I still think these turned out pretty cute, and show off her playful personality pretty well!

New Piano!

Jay's been wanting to buy this piano for Mara for quite awhile (I think he wanted it for himself really!), and we finally got it. Mara seems to really like playing it, and so does Jay! I think it will be a toy that she'll want to play with for quite awhile, and hopefully it will help her learn to love music!

Lili's 2nd Birthday Party

Last Saturday we went to a birthday party for my friend's 2 year old daughter Lili. Mara had so much fun playing and running around outside! The weather turned out great, and Mara was filthy by the time the day was over, but it was lots of fun. She loved the water table, and filling up the wagon with rocks. It was also Jay's birthday, so he enjoyed cake and everyone sang Happy Birthday to him too!

Lili really enjoyed her party, digging into her cake, playing with all of her friends, and opening lots of presents. Hard to believe she's 2 years old already, seems like she was just born!
